TMEditX 5.1 Release

TMEditX is the licensed and so much more capable tool for fixing up MSIX packages; better than PsfTooling since it doesn’t have to depend on the Microsoft MSIX Packaging Tool to create the final package.  [Download_page]

Features and Fixes

TMEditX:

  • Feature Added new detection and fixup to detect and remove application uninstallers/re-installers from the package.
This feature is configurable in the Options tab. When enabled (the default) it will remove applications from the manifest and associated lnk/exe files from the package.

  • Feature Added detection and fix for In-Process COM CLSIDs that are exe files and must be treated as out of process ComExeServers.

  • Feature Added improved support for certain COM Interfaces that are not registered in the manifest.

  • Feature When adding PsfFtaCom to the package, add an exclusion for that process in the Json (just like PsfLauncher).

  • Feature Added search to the AppXManifest tab to search for strings within the manifest.

  • Feature Don’t let files in the FONTS folder of the package trigger the need for the PSF due to file visibility.

  • Feature Added detection and fix for missing COM ProgId registrations in the package.

  • Feature Added support for registry entries using short names in the registry but long names in the filesystem. The change is implemented globally, but is known to solve issues with COM Server registrations as well as shortcut targets and arguments.

  • Feature Added detection and fix for COM servers that are registered via TreatAs key.

  • Feature Added detection and fix for COM Exe servers that are registered for use as an Control Panel Applet.
Also added detection, and fix for the Control Panel Applet itself.
The fix is placed in the Available Fixes section because it isn’t clear when customers want this.

  • Fix Bugfix for analyzing/fixing applications with multiple shortcuts to the same exe with different arguments.

  • MsixDeploy:

  • Feature Added search of all Analysis Report files in the UNC package display.
